2016 Report of the Texas High Performance Schools Consortium

by Texas High Performance Schools Consortium Year Published: 2016

In 2015, the 84th Texas Legislature passed House Bill 18, which shifted the responsibility of reporting on the progress of the Texas High Performance Schools Consortium from the commissioner of education to the districts and charters participating in the Consortium. The law also added the State Board of Education to the list of parties to receive reports from the Consortium. (The Consortium's biannual reports must also be provided to the governor, Legislature, and the commissioner of education, as provided by Senate Bill 1557, which established the Consortium in 2011.) This report, prepared in advance of the 2017 legislative session, includes information and examples of methods for transforming schools in Texas that improve student learning through the development of innovative next-generation learning standards and assessment and accountability systems, including standards and systems relating to career and college readiness.
