Senate Committee on Education Votes Out Voucher and Finance Commission Bills
07.21.2017 — The Senate Committee on Education met Friday, July 21. After nine hours of testimony, the committee voted out the following two bills:
SB 2 (Larry Taylor, et al.) Relating to public school finance, including the establishment of a tax credit scholarship and educational expense assistance program. (Sens. Uresti and West were the only two on the committee to vote against this bill.)
SB 16 (Larry Taylor, et al.) (Larry Taylor, et al.) Relating to the creation of a commission to recommend improvements to the public school finance system. (This bill passed 10-0.)
Both bills will now go to the full Senate. If passed by the full Senate, they must then go the House.
