House Pensions Committee to Consider TRS Bills Monday, April 13
04.09.2015 — The House Pensions Committee will meet at 2 p.m. or upon final adjournment of the full House on Monday, April 13. TRS-related bills on the agenda include:
HB 2974 by Dan Flynn – would require, rather than allow, TRS to limit the purchase of service credit under Government Code 823.006. The bill also would modify the number of TRS board members appointed by the governor. Additionally, it would extend the deadline by which employers or other entities must remit contributions under TRS and the Texas school employees uniform group coverage program from the seventh to the 10th day after the last day of a month. The bill would also require the TRS board to study the benefits, funding, and administration of TRS and report findings and recommendations to improve TRS to various state officials by December 1, 2016.
HB 3453 by J.M. Lozano – relating to participation in and rates for coverage provided under the uniform group coverage program for active employees.
HB 3657 by César José Blanco – relating to a study of the use of regional rating for health coverage provided under the uniform group coverage program for certain active school employees and their dependents.
HB 3897 by John Kuempel – relating to the administration of and benefits payable by TRS.
