Senate Education Committee Chairman Dan Patrick indicated that House Bill 5 would be on the committee’s agenda for Tuesday, April 16th

It is critical that you contact members of the Senate Education Committee and ask that HB 5 be voted out of committee as soon as possible, and without extraneous amendments. Let the committee know the most important features need to remain intact including:

1. Reduction in the number of required end-of-course exams to only the following FIVE tests:

    * Algebra I

    * English II - reading

    * English II - writing

    * Biology

    * U.S. History

    2. Maintenance of rigorous graduation requirements while providing more flexibility for students to seek endorsements in areas of personal interest.
