Texas Comptroller Releases Report, Database on Public School Construction Costs

The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts issued a report on public school construction costs that looks at construction cost data from 2007 through 2013 and includes a searchable database and interactive maps to compare school district's construction costs with others around the state.

The release states, "As the state's population booms, communities around the state have had a boom of their own – building almost 850 schools between 2007 and 2013. Largely funded by long-term debt, those construction projects deserve the attention of Texas property taxpayers and the state at large, but information on the subject can be tricky to find."

The Comptroller also released a short video on the topic.
