Run-off Elections Needed for TASA’s Executive Committee in Regions 8 & 10
Elections were recently held to fill vacant positions on TASA’s Executive Committee. After the votes were canvassed, it has been determined that a run-off election is necessary in Regions 8 & 10.
Due to a tie for second place in Region 8, we are now conducting a three-way run-off election between:
Rex Burks, superintendent at Simms ISD;
Ben Carson, superintendent at Liberty-Eylau ISD; and
Marc Levesque, superintendent at Chapel Hill ISD.
In Region 10, five TASA members sought the vacated Executive Committee position and after the votes were tallied, a run-off election will take place between Alfred Ray, superintendent at Duncanville ISD and Doug Williams, superintendent at Sunnyvale ISD.
To ensure that all members have an opportunity to vote in this important election, a ballot has been mailed to each active member in Regions 8 and 10.
The winning candidates of both regions will serve the unexpired term of the position through May 31, 2014, and will be eligible to serve a full two-year term in the regular election to be conducted in March 2014.
Active members in Region 8 and Region 10 should be on the lookout for the run-off election ballot in the mail. Ballots must be returned to TASA and postmarked no later than Thursday, May 23.
