Invitation from the THPSC to Join in the Work of Transforming Schools

The 82nd Texas Legislature approved Senate Bill 1557 in 2011, calling for the commissioner of education to select schools for the Texas High Performance Schools Consortium (THPSC). After an application process, 23 Texas school districts were selected in September 2012 by Commissioner Michael Williams to comprise the Consortium.

The 23 Consortium districts are working together to research, explore, develop and implement an assessment and accountability framework that is not over-reliant on high-stakes testing and meets the needs of urban, suburban, and rural communities.  Even though schools, teachers, and parents received some legislative relief from changes made to the testing and accountability system this session, it is imperative to expand this work statewide and to learn with other districts that are engaged in similar transformation work.

To that end, the THPSC is inviting other districts to join in the transformation work as Consortium Associates and partner with the Consortium members as we expand this statewide effort. As a Consortium Associate, your district will have the benefit of learning with innovative leaders committed to the vision principles and to creating future-ready students.

As a Consortium Associate, your district will have the benefit of learning with innovative leaders committed to the vision principles and to creating future-ready learners.  Your district will have access to TASA’s school transformation supports, including such things as access to national leaders in educational innovation, research on key transformation initiatives, and direct in-district services supporting your work. We hope you will accept the invitation to join in the work of creating student-centered schools and future-ready students.

To join in this important work, please complete and submit the Consortium Associates Application.
