Texas Elementary, Secondary Teacher of the Year to Be Announced Friday
The state's elementary and secondary Texas Teacher of the Year will be announced Friday, Oct. 4 at a special ceremony and luncheon at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin.
Six outstanding Texas educators were selected as finalists for Teacher of the Year in September. Now, those six teachers, along with the 34 regional Teachers of the Year, eagerly await the announcement of the 2014 Texas Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year.
The state Teacher of the Year finalists are:
Connie Bagley, a dyslexia specialist at Crockett Elementary, San Marcos CISD;
Jillian Howard, a bilingual teacher at C.D. Landolt Elementary, Clear Creek ISD;
Julie Woodard, a 6th grade social studies teacher at D.S. Pullen Elementary, Rockwall ISD;
Carlos Briano, a journalism teacher at El Dorado High School, Socorro ISD;
Christian DeBerry, special education teacher at William P. Hobby Middle School, Northside ISD; and
Monica Washington, an English teacher at Texas High School, Texarkana ISD.
