What is the S.M.A.R.T. School Transformation Academy? Co-created by TASA and QLD, and founded on the new vision for education, the Academy is designed to enhance district capacity to transform schools. The Academy is an immersion in the S.M.A.R.T. School Transformation Process, with team coaching support over the course of a year.
Based up the principles of the new vision for education, participating district/school teams will engage in a process to:
Establish a vision-driven, school--based goal and instructional focus for the year
Identify high priority learning standards and 21st century skill aligned to the area of focus
Examine learning outcomes and information related to student achievement of these standards
Support a process for on-going team, classroom, and student self-management of learning
Develop coaching capacity to support the transformation
Who should attend the Texas S.M.A.R.T. School Transformation Academy? The Academy is open to teams of two or more individuals from Texas districts with a passion for school transformation and improving student learning. Those who have responsibility for leading school transformation in their school or district, instructional coaches, those who support them in the central office, and principals and members of their campus teams are ideal candidates.
