TASA Partners with N2 Learning to Offer Assistant Principal Leadership Academy

06.17.2019 — TASA is pleased to announce a new partnership with N2 Learning that furthers our mission of developing school leaders who create and sustain student-centered schools and develop future-ready students: the Assistant Principal Leadership Academy (APL).

APL provides assistant principals with valuable leadership training based on the principles of the TASA visioning document, Creating a New Vision for Public Education in Texas, that will not only prepare them to take on the role of principal but also to grow as transformational leaders.

APL participants will engage in work that:

  • develops understanding of the core principles of Creating a New Vision for Public Education in Texas
  • encourages the practical application of transformational leadership ideas
  • prepares them for the principalship
  • develops skills specific to school leadership
  • places value on building a learning organization
  • prepares students for their future

TASA's partnership on APL is one way we are working to provide learning opportunities that align with the various career pathways of TASA members — one of the long-term strategies outlined in the TASA Strategic Framework for achieving the association's aspirations by 2025.

Assistant principals who participate in APL will benefit not only from what they learn during the academy, but also from being part of a cohort of like-minded leaders — a network they can come to rely on in the years to come. In this way, TASA's partnership on APL also supports our long-term strategy of cultivating networks of leaders engaged in meaningful work that advances the principles of the TASA visioning document, so it is truly a great match!

About N2 Learning

N2 Learning was established in 2011 by veteran Texas school leaders with the mission of helping school districts achieve their highest aspirations. They have worked with education entities across the state and beyond on projects related to assessment and accountability, leadership development, planning and facilitation, and search services. N2 Learning also manages and facilitates Texas’ statewide Principals’ Institute, the Executive Leadership Institute for central office individual and team development, and a Digital by Design professional development series for district teams that provides a focused approach to helping districts create and sustain a fearless learning culture through the meaningful integration of technology. They are well-equipped to lead an intensive leadership training academy for assistant principals, and TASA looks forward to expanding our partnership with them in the coming years to include the Principals' Institute and Principals' Institute 2.0.

About the Assistant Principal Leadership Academy (APL)

APL will be offered regionally during 2019-20, allowing assistant principals to learn alongside peers from neighboring districts and allowing districts to minimize travel expenses for attendees. And thanks to the generosity of the districts hosting the academy around the state, registration fees can be kept low, at $1,000 per person for six, half-day sessions throughout the school year.
