TABSE to Host TEPI Preconference in Conjunction with Midwinter Conference
The Texas Alliance of Black School Educators (TABSE) will again host its Texas Education Policy Institute (TEPI) preconference at the TASA Midwinter Conference. TEPI will be held Saturday, January 26, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Speakers include Texas Sen. John Whitmire, Rep. Harold Dutton, Jr., and Texas Commissioner of Education Mike Morath. NEW Pre- and Post-Conference Options – engage2learn/TASA’s Culture Shifting DIYs: Trainer of Trainers (TOT) for Learner Profile
Want to develop a learner profile? Engage2learn will share all the resources you need as well as pro tips for how they have facilitated a learner profile with dozens of districts. e2L is offering this learner profile for FREE as a launch to their Do-It-Yourself (DIY) series in partnership with TASA. This TOT session will be offered twice during the Midwinter Conference: Monday, January 27, 1-5 p.m. and Wednesday, January 30, 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. There is no extra cost beyond the conference registration fee, but you must preregister for either the preconference or post-conference TOT online.

Accountability Forum Seminar to Follow Midwinter Conference
The TASA Accountability Forum will meet Wednesday, January 30, in the Austin Convention Center after the TASA Midwinter Conference. Key TEA staff have been invited to provide updates, and experts at Moak, Casey & Associates will provide reports and data on the assessment and accountability systems and discuss the issues they anticipate will be before the 2019 Texas Legislature. Preconference Sessions at Midwinter Conference
When registering online in the TASA Member Services Center for the Midwinter Conference, please sign up for any optional preconference sessions you would like to attend. Three sessions are offered free of charge (with Midwinter registration) on the afternoon of Sunday, January 27:
- Tomlinson Leadership Institute: Leadership Toolbox for Transformative Education
- Preparing Students for a Mobile Workforce
- Google for Education Design Thinking Workshop with O'Briant Group
Budget Boot Camp is also available for a separate fee on the morning of Sunday, January 27, and the TASA Aspiring Superintendents Academy will kick off that afternoon. Learn more about these preconference options.
