Free Professional Ethics Webinar: February 22
TASA will host a free webinar, Ethics in Practice: Policy or Guidance?, 9-10 a.m., Thursday, February 22. The webinar, open to the first 200 individuals who RSVP, will feature a panel discussion with school district leaders as well as Troy Hutchings, a recognized national expert on educator ethics, and Ramiro Canales, an attorney on TASA's Governmental Relations team. The panel will explore challenges school personnel may encounter using electronic communication with their students and the development of guidelines in the era of social media and SB 7. 01.29.2018 — Long-time TASA Executive Director Johnny L. Veselka, who is retiring this spring, was honored by the TASA officers and Executive Committee during the opening general session of the 2018 TASA Midwinter Conference in Austin on Monday.
01.18.2018—Alvin ISD, Houston ISD, McKinney ISD, and Northwest ISD have been selected to receive the Caudill Award, the highest honor in the annual Exhibit of School Architecture competition facilitated by TASA and TASB for projects that exemplify excellence in planning and design of the learning environment.
02.09.2018 — The Texas Commission on Public School Finance held its second meeting Thursday, February 8, at the TEA building in Austin.
02.06.2018 — The Texas Senate Education Committee has posted notice of a hearing at 10 a.m., Monday, March 26, on teacher pay, student discipline, and accountability.
01.23.2018 — The school finance commission created by HB 21 from the summer 2017 special legislative session met for the first time Tuesday, January 23, 2018.
