12.11.2017 — Registration Open for SBOE/SBEC Learning Roundtable on Recruiting, Preparing, and Retaining Top Teachers
Registration has opened for a free, one-day conference called Learning Roundtable: Recruiting, Preparing, and Retaining Top Teachers that the SBOE and SBEC will host on the fourth floor of the Austin Convention Center 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, the final day of the Midwinter Conference. Keynote speakers will be Doug Lemov, author of Teach Like a Champion, and Peter Dewitt, author of Collaborative Leadership: Six Influences that Matter Most. 11.09.2016 — Budget Boot Camp to be Offered at Midwinter
At TASA’s Budget Boot Camp, to be held 7:30 a.m.-noon Sunday, January 28, prior to the Midwinter Conference, school finance experts and TASA consultants Doug Karr and Omar Garcia will give administrators the opportunity to: complete and/or update the latest release of the state funding template under guided instruction; project state and local revenue for the previous, current, and future school years for current and future planning purposes; monitor the under/overpayment of Foundation School Fund state aid for the current school year; and ask questions and dialogue about other school-finance related items. TASA will offer “Symphony or Cacophony? How ESSA and New State Laws are Shaping Accountability,” a seminar to be held January 31, 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., immediately following the 2018 TASA Midwinter Conference in Austin, as a benefit to TASA Accountability Forum subscribers. Districts that subscribe to TASA’s Accountability Forum may send up to three attendees at no cost; attendees from non-subscribing districts may register for $175 each. Register today!

10.20.2017 — Aspiring Superintendents’ Academy at Midwinter Offers Learning Opportunity for Future Superintendents
TASA's popular Aspiring Superintendents’ Academy for those who aspire to become superintendents will be offered during the Midwinter Conference. The 2018 academy will focus on the moral and aesthetic dimensions of being the top education leader in a school district and community with attention given to developing clarity about the beliefs and values that result in distinguished leadership in a connected and digitized world. The academy offers more than eight hours of professional learning in preparation for the superintendency. To register, select the optional Aspiring Superintendents’ Academy when registering for the TASA Midwinter Conference or register on-site. Cost is $125 (in addition to the conference registration fee).
10.12.2017 — TABSE to Host Events, Session Strand at Midwinter Conference
Under a new partnership agreement between TASA and the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators, TABSE will host its Texas Educational Policy Institute (TEPI) preconference, its TABSE Superintendent Think Tank, and a concurrent session strand at the 2018 TASA Midwinter Conference. 08.21.2017 — Call for Concurrent Session Proposals Open Till October 1
The TASA Midwinter Conference attracts education leaders — and leadership teams — from every region of the state. If your district has an outstanding program you’d like to share with conference attendees in a concurrent session, please read the guidelines and complete an application through the TASA Member Services Center by October 1. Once you log in, click on the Events tab then scroll down to the Session Applications List to find the 2018 Midwinter Conference application link.
