Legislative & Public Policy Services, 2010-11

Legislative advocacy is considered by TASA members to be one of the most important benefits of association membership. To maintain that benefit, TASA devotes significant time, energy, and resources to monitoring and influencing legislative and public policy matters. Over the years, the association has earned respect among education associations, legislators, and other state leaders for its unique ability to represent and advocate for all Texas school districts, regardless of size, wealth category, or geographic location.

TASA seeks to fulfill this role through research, policy analysis and development, education, and technical assistance. Membership dues alone, however, are not enough to support these ongoing efforts. TASA is able to remain highly visible and successful only with the support of our members who choose to subscribe to TASA's Legislative & Public Policy Services (LPPS).

The LPPS program strengthens and unifies the association's legislative efforts, helping TASA achieve important legislative and public policy goals. LPPS enables TASA to tap the expertise of legal counsel on legislative issues, legislative bill analysis, and related training. In addition, subscriptions to LPPS enable the association to provide supplementary information and resources directly to our members. Our members, in turn, become informed advocates for their own local schools and communities.

Because TASA does not discriminate in its advocacy efforts, the LPPS program ultimately assists all TASA members and their districts.  The voluntary contributions of TASA members toward our legislative efforts through participation in LPPS truly make a difference in our overall success. If you would like to help us in that quest, please renew or initiate your annual subscription to TASA's Legislative & Public Policy Service today.
