Supported by TASA, the Texas Leadership Center is a nonprofit organization that provides customized services and seminars to strengthen the leadership of Texas schools. The mission of the Texas Leadership Center is to seek, advance, and implement dynamic leadership for Texas school leaders.
iPods and Podcasting in Education
iPods and Podcasting in Education is designed to teach superintendents, central office administrators, ESL and ELL coordinators/directors, and teacher leaders how to use the iPod's capabilities to support teaching and learning. The training also teaches participants how to create a podcast and make it accessible to a community of learners. This seminar can be customized to districts that commit to at least 25 participants. Each participant receives a 80GB iPod Classic, Logitech USB Headset 250, appropriate software, and a 1-year subscription to http://www.audioed-online.com/.
Public Education Visioning Institute
The Public Education Visioning Institute is a unique opportunity for 35 superintendents to learn from one another by challenging conventional thinking to improve their leadership capacities and their school systems. Throughout the 18-month program, participants will engage in stimulating dialog with each other and leading thinkers to explore ways they can create more meaningful educational opportunities for their students. A document, Creating a New Vision for Public Education, is being written by the group for broad distribution. Collaborative Teacher Induction Program-CTIP
The Texas Leadership Center has been awarded a grant by the Houston Endowment to develop a cost-effective induction/mentoring model for the professional education community in the state. The model is intended for application as a tool in the professional development of novice Texas teachers, thereby resulting in higher student achievement. Working under the auspices of the Texas Leadership Center, a project team and advisory committee currently are developing the model, Collaborative Teacher Induction Program-CTIP, over a 15-month period. For more information, contact CTIP Project Director Charles Patterson, TASA Associate Executive Director Susan Holley, or TASA/CTIP Principal Trainer and Designer Dianne Hess.
