The TASA Midwinter Conference has become the most popular conference of the year for Texas school leaders because it provides such a valuable opportunity to come together to discuss and share innovative practices, network with peers, address the administrative issues administrators face every day, and gain fresh insights.   • 01.17.2017 — See Lineup of Featured Sessions for Teachers/Campus-Level Educators
    TASA has put together a special “mini program” for teachers and other campus-level educators attending the Midwinter Conference. It includes a lineup of suggested general session, thought leader, and concurrent sessions that will be particularly valuable to teachers and other non-administrative, campus-level staff including counselors, librarians, teacher leaders, department heads/chairs, instructional coaches, and content specialists.   • 01.16.2017 — Missed Online Registration? Register On-Site!
    Online registration for the Midwinter Conference closed January 13, but you may register on-site during the conference. On-site registration will be available noon-6 p.m., January 29; 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m., January 30; 8 a.m.-5 p.m., January 31; and 7 a.m.-10:30 a.m., February 1. Learn more.

  • 12.08.2016 — Free Early-Bird Sessions to Be Offered Sunday
    Coming into Austin early for the Midwinter Conference? Two preconference sessions will be available to registrants at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, January 29, at no extra charge. No preregistration is required; seating is first-come, first-served. Learn more.

    The agenda for the 2017 TASA Midwinter Conference has been posted and links to information on several related events occurring in conjunction with the conference as well as to descriptions of the General Session speakers’ presentations.   • 11.15.2016 — Accountability Forum Seminar to Follow Midwinter
    TASA will offer “Ontogenetic Development of Accountability: The Transition from Indices to Domains,” a seminar to be held February 1, 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., immediately following the 2017 TASA Midwinter Conference in Austin, as a benefit to TASA Accountability Forum subscribers. Districts that subscribe to TASA’s Accountability Forum may send up to three attendees at no cost; attendees from non-subscribing districts may register for $175 each. Learn more and register today!

  • 11.09.2016 — Aspiring Superintendents’ Academy at Midwinter Offers Learning Opportunity for Future Superintendents
    A two-part Aspiring Superintendents’ Academy will be offered January 31, noon–5 p.m., and February 1, 8–9:30 a.m., during the Midwinter Conference. Led by John Horn with the Schlechty Center and Jenny Preston — both former superintendents — the academy will focus on the moral and aesthetic dimensions of being the top education leader in a school district and community. To register, select the optional Aspiring Superintendents’ Academy when registering for the TASA Midwinter Conference or register on-site. Cost is $100 (in addition to the conference registration fee).

  • 11.04.2016 — Budget Boot Camp to be Offered at Midwinter
    At TASA’s Budget Boot Camp, to be held 7:30 a.m.-noon Sunday, January 29, prior to the Midwinter Conference, school finance experts and TASA consultants Doug Karr and Omar Garcia will give administrators the opportunity to: complete and/or update the latest release of the state funding template under guided instruction; project state and local revenue for the previous, current, and future school years for current and future planning purposes; monitor the under/overpayment of Foundation School Fund state aid for the current school year; and ask questions and dialogue about other school-finance related items. Register by January 20!

  • 10.06.2016 — Book Housing for the Conference ASAP!
    In addition to taking advantage of early-bird registration by December 16, be sure to make your housing reservations ASAP for the 2017 Midwinter Conference, January 29-February 1 in Austin. TASA has reserved blocks of rooms at a number of Austin hotels. Reservations must be booked online via this link and guaranteed with a credit card. Modifications and cancellations can be made to existing reservations using the same link until January 19. (Cancellations must be made by December 7 to avoid a fee.)

  • 09.30.2016 — TASA Welcomes Texas K-12 CTO as a Conference Partner
    The Texas K-12 CTO Council, the premier organization for chief technology officers in Texas schools, will hold its Winter Meeting 2017 in conjunction with the TASA Midwinter Conference on Saturday, January 28, at the Hilton Austin. The Council will present a special technology strand during the conference, with sessions on Monday and Tuesday, January 30-31. Learn more.
